Unsubscribes and block lists
mailfino uses a block list to reliably prevent recipients from receiving further emails and to ensure that unsubscribe requests are enforced across the entire system. This mechanism is intended as a simple and secure way for recipients to unsubscribe if they no longer want to receive your newsletters at all. It is not designed to manage subscriptions for different newsletters. Other mechanisms are available for that purpose.
Any address that is unsubscribed is automatically added to this block list. This can happen in any of the following ways:
- Using the provided unsubscribe form
- Using the “Add to block list” function in a custom form
- Spam complaints submitted through the abuse form
- Using the “Unsubscribe” function in email programs such as Microsoft Outlook
- Marking an email as “spam” with participating email providers (certified-cloud only)
Every unsubscribe takes effect immediately. The address is then automatically excluded from future mailings within the same user account.
Block lists in multi-user accounts
In multi-user accounts, the block list applies across the entire account. This means that if an address is blocked in one sub-account or by the administrator, it is automatically blocked in all other sub-accounts within the same multi-user account. This prevents a recipient who has already unsubscribed from being contacted again through another sub-account.
Blocked recipients are marked accordingly in list management and shown in grey. You can also use reporting to see which addresses are listed as blocked.
Removing a block
A block can be removed again by using a mailfino double opt-in form.
In on-premise environments, a block can also be removed directly from the block list if the user account has the required permissions.
Important: A block should only be removed if the reason has been clearly resolved and renewed contact is legally permitted.
